Nutella pancakes are here to rescue your sad breakfasts and make them AWESOME! Why just put nutella on your pancakes when you could have it inside AND on top of the pancakes?
In my house, pancakes tend to be reserved for special occasions or treat breakfasts – in the week I enjoy a healthy green protein smoothie which means I get to indulge at the weekend! Scrambled eggs on toast or bluberry pancakes are my favourite, but I decided to dream up something extra special for Pancake Day! Introducing Nutella Chocolate Pancakes with Blueberry Sauce!!
These fluffy and rich chocolate pancakes are packed full of yummy chocolate hazlenut nutella. The nutella, greek yoghurt and cocoa powder keeps them so moist inside. The blueberry sauce is a super easy delicious accompaniement to the pancakes (or you could use strawberries, raspberries or another berry!) but you can also not bother with it if you don’t have any berries in the house. I used frozen blueberries for my sauce, which will work just as well as fresh.
Of course, these pancakes are so chocolatey and indulgent that they’re really more of a dessert than a breakfast, but sometimes, that’s just what you need! Birthdays, pancake day, a Sunday when you need an amazing breakfast just because!
Something to note about this recipe – before you make these delicious nutella pancakes, you’re going to heat your nutella in the microwave for about 30 seconds – this will ensure it is nice and liquid and easy for you to mix into your pancake batter.

35g or 1/3 cup cocoa powder
75g or 1/3 cup light-brown sugar
210g or 1 1/2 cups plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
120ml or 1/2 cup milk (use whatever you have in the house)
120g or 1/2 cup greek yoghurt
4 heaped tbsp nutella
2 large eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste
For the berry sauce75g blueberries, strawberries or other berry of your choice
To serve: 2-3 more tablespoonfuls of Nutella
To serve: 2-3 more tablespoonfuls of Nutella
DIRECTIONS :
For the pancake batter
Combine your dry ingredients in a large bowl by sifting them together - the plain flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt. Add the two sugars and mix together, then set aside.
In a smaller bowl or jug, combine the greek yoghurt, vanilla extract, nutella, and milk. Whisk the mixture until everything is incorporated, then add the two eggs.
Next, gently whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. You don't want to overwork the mixture, so just stir until everything is incorporated - no more.
To cook, heat up a large saucepan on a medium - high heat, and melt a tsp of butter and ensure the whole pan is coated with it. Use a ladle or ice cream scoop to measure batter onto the saucepan, using a spatula to guide it into a circular shape. Flip the pancakes as soon as you see bubbles appearing on the top - these can burn quickly so have a spatula handy and ready to go! Keep any cooked pancakes on a baking sheet in a low oven while the whole batch cooks.
